We recommend using BoB2™ because we can offer full fetchtv support and firmware upgrades for him, automatically loaded with each update.
BoB Lite™ is a fully featured broadband2+ VOIP-compatible modem, offering style and functionality with an extra LITE price tag.
BoB™ is fully compatible with fetchtv but is no longer available for sale.
Belkin Broadband Voice Modem/Router — 4 Port & 4 port wireless (F1PI242ENau / F1PI242EGau). Important: To use either of these modems with your fetchtv Entertainment service, a firmware update must be loaded. We have also added support for our Belkin Gen2 modems (F1PI242ENau and F1PI242EGau) to work with fetchtv Entertainment after a firmware upgrade — please follow the steps listed in our help article before completing your fetchtv Entertainment application. How fast does my broadband need to be to get fetchtv?
We offer a range of service packages depending on available broadband speed:
- fetchtv Entertainment delivers the full-featured service with all Standard Definition channels, and is available to users with speeds of approximately 4.6Mbps or more.
- fetchtv Starter is less bandwidth-intensive, for users with speeds above 1.5Mbps, or not on a fetchtv Entertainment enabled exchange. It doesn't include subscription channels, but you can still access movie rentals, games, apps and digital free-to-air TV.
Is fetchtv IPTV?
Yes, sort of. Fetchtv uses IPTV technology, but it’s a little different to what most Australians identify as IPTV. The way fetchtv works allows content to be delivered to your home in broadcast quality, to your TV instead of the PC, with no degradation of picture quality.
How does the fetchtv STB receive its Free To Air Digital TV?
The fetchtv set top box receives all Free to Air digital TV channels available in your area (via your existing antenna), so once you have fetchtv you do not need any other set top box to access digital TV. Please note — At this stage, Free to Air TV is not received to your fetchtv STB via your broadband connection.
Does fetchtv enable me to get internet on my TV?
Fetchtv doesn’t provide internet access on your TV; however, selected internet content may be available through games and social media applications.
How do I set up my fetchtv set top box?
- Plug your TV antenna into your fetchtv STB, then connect your STB to your TV using the HDMI, composite or component cables included in your set top box package.
- Connect your compatible modem to your Naked DSL line or to your phone line via the ADSL line filter. This is the gateway used by your set top box to access fetchtv content and online games.
- Finally, connect your STB to your a compatible modem via the supplied ethernet cable. Alternatively, you can order a PLC (power line communications) device along with your fetchtv service. A PLC device lets your modem transmit fetchtv content to your set top box via existing electrical wiring.
Will fetchtv slow down my broadband?
Your fetchtv service and internet activity share the same connection. Faster net connections should be able to handle both types of traffic without any problems. It’s possible that users on slower connections may experience some minor slowdown.
Do I have to buy a fetchtv set top box?
You’ll have the option to rent or purchase a fetchtv set top from Westnet. This service is not compatible with other STBs.
What does "dark fibre" mean?
Dark fibre refers to unused optical fibres connected at an exchange. It’s the infrastructure that helps deliver the type of data required for fetchtv. That’s why this service is only available in particular areas.
