Enhanced Broadband ADSL

Westnet, one of Australia's leading telecommunications providers, has announced it will offer enhanced ADSL Broadband internet service with speeds of up to 8Mb.

The faster Broadband service is available to all homes and businesses connected to a Broadband ADSL enabled exchange.

Along with the introduction of speeds of up to 8Mb, Westnet is making a number of minor changes to our current Broadband plans effective 1 January 2007.

• Excess charges will be reduced from $10/GB to $6GB (for members who have not set their account to be shaped. Shaping will be to a rate of 64kbps on uploads and downloads and will no longer be further reduced to 33 kbps),
• Peak times will run later into the evening (Peak time will be from 10am through to 2am).
• Download limits on a number of plans have increased
• WAIX and PIPE traffic will now be included towards the download limit.
• All Broadband ADSL plans will incur a Static IP Address fee of $4.99 per month (or $55 per year).
• Some plans will no longer be available to new members. Members currently on these plans are welcome to continue on them, however should they choose to move to another plan, they will not be able to return to this plan.

Maximum Broadband speeds are dependant on a number of factors, including:

• how far you live from your local telephone exchange (the closer you are, the faster your speed will be),
• quality of your phone line,
• quality of your Broadband ADSL modem and line filter.
