Westnet win WA Award for Excellence
The WA Information and Telecommunications Association announced Westnet as the winner of its prestigious Telecommunications Service Award 2000 at a gala ceremony at the Burswood Resort.
A humble beginning in Geraldton in 1995 was the launching pad for what is a WA success story. Now one of WA’s premier Internet Service Providers Westnet has been rewarded at the highest level for its achievements in delivering a quality Internet service to people throughout WA. The award puts Westnet into contention for the Australian IT&T Telecommunications Award later this year.
Westnet is 100% WA owned, with all the directors and many of the staff from regional backgrounds. Westnet has specialised in the provision of an accessible, friendly and reliable service to regional and remote WA. The award from WAITTA comes on top of two highly successful years during which Westnet quadrupled its subscribers and absorbed a number of smaller ISPs.
Westnet offers friendly personal service through its extensive network of local agencies, generally businesses or Telecentres, located in most regional WA towns. Westnet Managing Director, Peter Brown, accredited Westnet’s success jointly to the agents in delivering the personal service necessary in regional areas, as well as to the commitment and teamwork of his 40 staff.
