What is Email Protection?
Westnet's Email Protection package can scan your incoming email for viruses and spam before they reach your Westnet mailbox. This decreases the likelihood of a harmful message infecting your computer. Email Protection has been offered as a separately priced product from Westnet to date. It will be now provided as a feature of the Advanced plan and can no longer be purchased as a separate product. If an email containing a virus is detected, the entire message is discarded and a notification message is sent to you detailing the infection. If a message has a 'spam probability' of 50% or more, it will also be intercepted and a daily summary of all spam emails quarantined will be sent to you. From this summary email you are able to release spam messages of interest back to your email box. For more information on Email Protection which is a feature of the Advanced plan, or to upgrade to the Advanced plan, please click here. |

All those on the Extras plan can increase their storage space to 200MB and have Email Protection for $30 per year. | I did not want to change my email system, can I stay on the old one? |
Is there a lighter version of Webmail for members?
Yes there is a 'Lite' version available for use and recommended for those with slow internet connections. To access the 'Lite' version you will simply need to check the 'Lite Client' box as you go to log in to Webmail. Dialup members may prefer to use the Lite version however there are some limitations if you choose this option. As you log in to the 'lite' version, it will be quicker to load, but it will not contain all the features of the full version. The login page will also remember that you selected the 'Lite' version and will always have that pre-selected for you.
Can I check my emails using a mobile device?
What happens if I want to access my emails using POP3?
You can use your favourite email client, be it Outlook, Thunderbird etc. to connect to Webmail using POP3. If you have previously elected to leave a copy of all your POP3 messages on the Westnet mail server ("Leave messages on server" or "Leave a copy of messages on server") then the first time you log into your mailbox using POP3 after it has been migrated your email client will need to re-download all your messages. This is required in order to re-synchronise your mail client with the new Westnet server. This will only occur the first time you log into your new mailbox using POP3 and you have previously enabled leaving a copy of your messages on the server. When you use POP3 on subsequent occasions, only new messages will be retrieved.
Why am I not able to switch from the Lite client to Advanced?
What contributes to my mailbox size?
Every message in your mailbox is counted towards your total mailbox size. If you are a webmail user, additional items such as your Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Documents, which are stored within the webmail client, will also contribute to your total mailbox usage. If you have lots of contacts within your webmail contacts list, as well as lots of calendar, document or task entries, you may find that you start exceeding your allocated mailbox quota sooner. To ensure that you maximise your mailbox storage, try to remember to periodically empty your Sent Items, Deleted Items, and Drafts folders as well as periodically reviewing your usage of the additional features offered by the webmail client.
