The In-Line Filter pictured enables you to have one Phone/Fax device per filter operating simultaneously on the same phone service as your Broadband ADSL connection. The In-Line Filter simply plugs into an unused phone jack, and your Phone/Fax plugs directly into it. If your ADSL modem needs to connect through the same phone jack, it should also be connected directly into the In-Line Filter.
A Central Filter is usually required if you have a monitored alarm system, PABX office system or similar operating on the same phone service as your broadband ADSL connection. We recommend contacting the supplier of such systems to confirm whether you require one. It may also be required if you have four or more Phone/Fax devices (eg. four phone hand-sets) operating on the same phone service, in order to maintain your line quality.
