Law Enforcement Agencies

Under the Telecommunications Act, Westnet is obligated to comply with Law Enforcement Agencies to assist in the investigation into alleged crime or unlawful activity.

A request for Westnet"s compliance with a Law Enforcement Agency should be submitted quoting the specific section of the Telecommunications Act that the request relates to, and signed by a duly authorized agent. For agencies with SEDnode access, please submit requests directly through this medium. Alternatively, requests should be directed to:

Responses to "Routine" requests for compliance under Section 178 of the Act will be made within 48 hours. Responses to marked as "Urgent" or "Life Threatening" will be actioned as soon as possible. Where necessary, a Law Enforcement Agency may check the status of a request by contacting the Compliance Manager on (08) 6263 3893.
