Connection times depend on the line that’s currently available in the property and whether any work is required by a technician. New connections take about a week depending on your location.
The table below is a guide to the charges which apply with telephone line connections.

| If there is currently a telephone line in the property/premise and the line has a dial tone, an in-place connection is probably required. This normally takes 2 - 4 working days. Please note that this will generally exclude brand new houses or apartments² . | |||||

| If there is a socket and line at the property/premises but no dialtone on the line then a technician may be required to complete the connection. This normally takes 5 – 7 working days.³ | |||||

| When there is no previous line coming into the property/premise then a New Line Connection is required. If an additional line is required into a premises that has an existing line, this charge also applies. This normally takes 5 – 7 working days. | |||||

| ² Sometimes new properties are fitted with a phone line that is connected to the telephone network and therefore has a dial tone. In this case, a New Line Connection fee (see above) will generally apply as the first occupant to activate a new phone line (whether it has dial tone or not) will always pay the New Line Connection fee. |
