Westnet's largest ever regional investment brings broadband competition to WA
10th January 2011
More than 20,000 West Australian homes and businesses will have access to broadband competition for the first time as Westnet announces its biggest rollout of superfast ADSL2+ broadband services ever.
Westnet and parent company iiNet have invested an additional $5 million in high speed broadband infrastructure with Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Bluff Point and Katanning the first towns in regional WA to receive major network upgrades in the next six months.
Residents in these towns will have access to fast internet speeds, Westnet's award winning customer service and a more competitive broadband market.
Michael Malone, Chief Executive Officer of Westnet, said the company was committed to bringing real competition, better service and an understanding of the needs of people in regional Western Australia.
"Westnet is proudly based in WA and we want to bring the benefits of superfast broadband to as many homes and businesses as we can. This year we will build more than double the capacity of what we delivered last year and offer plans at more competitive prices than ever before," Mr Malone said.
"At Westnet, we're all about connecting people to their family and friends. Our customers in Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Bluff Point and Katanning will soon be able to connect more affordably and more easily. By teaming one of our broadband2+ plans with our Netphone service, you'll get cheaper phone calls, useful technology, better performance, better customer service and fast, reliable internet in one package."
