Westnet cranks ups Freezone with quota free ABC iView, iTunes and Xbox LIVE!

Thursday 11 December 2008

Westnet today announced three major new additions to its Freezone, which allows members to enjoy a huge range of content downloaded quota free. Any Westnet member on an eligible broadband plan will now enjoy unmetered iTunes, Xbox LIVE and ABC iView sessions, in perfect time for festive season downloading.

Westnet members can now stream and watch ABC iView content without impacting their monthly download quotas. ABC iView is an innovative new platform enabling web users to view ABC programs online and on-demand, immediately after broadcast.

The agreement with Xbox 360 enables Westnet members to enter the ultimate social entertainment experience as they create their own avatar, download game demos, trailers, arcade games and console updates without it affecting monthly quota.

At this stage some or most gaming traffic will still be counted towards quota, however Westnet are currently working to accurately identify this traffic and may unmeter this traffic if possible in the near future.

The arrangement with iTunes grants members VIP access to iTunes Australia, unmetered access to over 8 million songs plus music videos, audio books, Pixar short films and iPod games.

Westnet are running competitions in conjunction with the launch of each new service – prizes including 1,000 iTunes songs, an ABC prize pack, an Xbox 360 console plus games, as well as runner-up games packs.

Westnet has also tweaked the look of its Freezone, with a more simple and user friendly interface.

Westnet's marketing manager Dan Scott commented: "We are thrilled to bring iTunes, Xbox LIVE and ABC iView content to Westnet members, quota free. It's a great way to say thank you to our members and show them why it's great to be a Westnet member. There is something for every type of internet user here – catching repeats of quality ABC shows, hardcore gamers and music lovers.

Our Freezone helps members to avoid stressing about their download quotas when consuming content and media.  Now they can consume away, and rest assured it won't run down their monthly download quota."
