Westnet Mobile Broadband is Arriving Soon

Westnet Pty Ltd today announced it will be bringing a high-speed mobile broadband service to its product suite. With a range of internet access choices including Broadband ADSL Broadband ADSL2+, Satellite Broadband, Dialup and Phone, this new addition makes Westnet amongst the strongest Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in Australia when it comes to coast-to-coast coverage.

Expected to be available in April 2009, customers can look forward to download speeds up to 1.5Mbps, depending on a range of factors*.

Mobile Broadband members will connect using a slim-line USB wireless modem (which easily attaches to a PC or laptop) meaning there are no costly installations. Westnet has carefully selected the Optus Network (with 96% coverage of the Australian population) to deliver Mobile Broadband to their members, catering to their significant regional member-base.

"We have been very keen to meet our members' demand for a Mobile Broadband service, particularly as our members are on the go more often than ever before," said Westnet Chief Financial Officer Tom Edmonson.

Along with the traditional post-pay method, Westnet will be introducing pre-pay for the first time, allowing their members to surf the internet for as much as their budget allows. Fair excess pricing on post-pay plans will be put in place if a customer goes over their monthly download allowance, and members will be warned well in advance prior to incurring any excess charges.

Whilst pricing is yet to be finalized, entry level plans are expected to start from just $19.95, when bundled with any Westnet Broadband or Phone product. Most plans will reward members who bundle by offering extra download allowance.
