Notice of Disconnection for Westnet mobile services using the Optus network

Westnet is discontinuing the use of the Optus network for its mobile services, and moving all remaining customers onto the Vodafone network. Customers still on a plan using the Optus network will need to take action to continue using their mobile service.

In August 2020, Westnet started offering mobile plans powered by the Vodafone mobile network and stopped selling new mobile plans using the Optus network.

We have been investing in our mobile network to make it our best ever and have been regularly contacting customers to invite them to switch to a new plan on our network to experience it for themselves. The majority of customers have already made the move.

We have now decided to move all remaining Westnet mobile plans that use the Optus network onto the Vodafone network by 30 June 2022. These customers will have three options:

  • Activate their new Westnet plan by following the instructions they will receive by email or SMS
  • Port their number to another service provider
  • Cancel their service with no cancellation or porting fees

We are contacting affected customers to give them details of their options with time to make alternative arrangements for their services. We advise customers to check their email or SMS notifications to confirm the date their current service will stop working if they do not take any action to activate their new Westnet plan or port to another provider.

For easy reference, we've put all our agreements, policies, processes and contract information in one place.
